Let's start off by telling Stacey and Irving's story in one of those fast and simple ways.
Really outgoing girl meets really shy boy. Girl thinks boy is cute and likes him, while boy thinks girl is embarrassing, but embarrassing funny, so he likes her too. Girl and boy get together and are for a long time.Girl loves boy, Boy loves girl. Girl and boy are happy. After many more months boy and girl have many problems though and break up. Boy gets with girl's cousin. Girl gets with other boy, but finds out she's pregnant. Girl goes through pregnancy alone. Boy eventually breaks up with cousin, but, still doesn't get back with girl. Girl loves boy. Boy is confused and not ready. Girl has baby girl and only loves baby girl afterwards. Boy loves both girls then, and is no longer confused. Girl wants nothing to do with boy but still gets back with him for baby girls sake.
Now, that was just to give you a quick background because explaining the whole story would take all day. Stacey and Irving have had more than a few ups and downs, but today I look at them and see something very common these days. They now live together and have two kids, one boy, and one girl. They are by far the oddest couple I know. One minute they're messing around and having a good time, then next, they're at each others throat. I guess I suppose why they are like that though. They never really had the chance to fall in love for all the right reasons. They had a baby, and therefore they believed that they had to be in love for the sake of the baby. I can't really tell you if what they really have is love, but it IS something. I guess its the emotional bond that they show between their children, or maybe secretly under all of Stacey's resentment (for everything Irving did to her) and all of Irving's trapped feelings (feeling he needed to be with the mother of his children) there really is love. This couple makes me wonder if love really can come out of nothing? Or if it can come back after A LOT of hard blows. I guess no one will really know how they really feel except for them I suppose.

Reading this made me sad. I don't know this couple but i do know some like this. And, your right, they never really have gotten to fall in love with each other. Since they seemed like they are forced to be with each other, they only spend time with the other person becaue they seem like they have to, not that they want to. If they didn't feel so forced then i think that maybe they could see behind their past and find something they truly love about each other.
